Each year, the Build From Within Alliance (BFWA) convenes 22 community development organizations from across the country.

The Convening is where our members and their partners come to get inspired. This fall, members of the Build From Within Alliance will gather in Philadelphia to explore how neighborhood economies grow when local entrepreneurs have the support they need to succeed.

Members share a commitment to revitalizing neighborhoods through local entrepreneurs and small businesses. Coming together strengthens our collective voice and advances the future of inclusive economic development.

The Convening is deeply shaped by its host city.We shop, stay, and eat local, partnering with corridor leaders and community-based organizations.

Hosted by The Welcoming Center, the 2026 Convening brings national leaders and practitioners into direct engagement with Philadelphia’s small business ecosystem.

More than 100 experts in community development, small-business support, lending, and community well-being will gather to share ideas and learn alongside the city’s neighborhood-rooted leadership.

The Welcoming Center

The Welcoming Center is a member of The Build from Within Alliance. Based in Philadelphia, They work with immigrants to secure careers in their chosen field, explore opportunities for higher-paying jobs, start local businesses, and access community leadership opportunities.

By aligning with the social and economic goals of immigrants, The Welcoming Center supports the economic growth of the region and contributes to building more connected and diverse communities.
